About The Kitchen

The kitchen in pickleball, also known as the non-volley zone, extends seven feet from both sides of the court.

The rules regarding the kitchen are simple: you can only hit the ball inside the kitchen after it has first bounced on the surface within that area.

Returning the ball while in the air or volleying is not allowed in the kitchen; it must first touch the ground.

Beginners on both sides of the court often overlook the kitchen, so everyone needs to learn and understand the kitchen rules.
