Pickleball Experience
What is the pickleball experience?
The pickleball experience can vary significantly from one community to another. For instance, during our visits to various HOA communities, we observed that in some places, the experience was quite uniform: players lined up their paddles and waited for their turn to play.
The games were serious, but we didn't witness the social camaraderie we had anticipated. While a certain level of connection existed, it lacked the essence of a social gathering. The age range of players in these communities was typically between their 60s and 80s, and they all played well.
In other communities, we saw a different type of camaraderie. Here, music was playing, and you could see how the players reacted. They expressed joy on the court, and they were much friendlier to one another, some doing their dance moves to the music.
The age group was essentially the same, but the social atmosphere here was noticeably stronger. Some players even remarked that they looked forward to these games for the sense of community and the therapeutic benefits they provided. Ultimately, the pickleball experience is shaped by individual perceptions and interactions.
Pickleball took off in HOA communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it brought neighbors closer than ever before and the closeness that developed on the court with each other has created extended families throughout communities everywhere.
