Why Is The Receiver’s Partner Standing At The Net Just Behind The Kitchen Line?
The position of the receiver’s partner standing behind the kitchen line (or non-volley line) is strategic rather than dictated by a rule.
This positioning allows the partner to monitor the serve and assist in calling any balls that may be out of play.
Additionally, it provides the opportunity to defend the line.
In doubles, the only positional rule applies to the server, who must serve from behind the line. Other than that, players can position themselves anywhere on their respective sides of the court.
